Driving Home The Point: Week of October 28-November 3, 2007

This week in KidZone Ministries, we are learning to trust God completely.

Bible Story: Elijah Helps a Widow (1 Kings 17:7-24)

Key Verse: Matthew 6:31-33 "So don't worry about these things, saying, what will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all you needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."

@Home with your child: As a family, play a game of "two truths and a lie." Have one person tell three stories-- two that are true and one that isn't. The other family members should try to guess which story is not true. Give each family member a turn, then talk about how God's Word is completely trustworthy.

JESUS HONORS THOSE WHO FOLLOW HIM. HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS ALWAYS BRINGS PEACE AND ASSURANCE.

Driving Home the Point: Week of October 21st - 27th, 2007

This week in KidZone Ministries, we are learning to choose to follow God and to ask God for help when we have choices to make.

Bible Story: The Kingdom Divides (1 Kings 11:28-12:24)

Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 7:14 "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."

@Home with your child:
A. If you think it is appropriate for your family, it might be fun to watch The Lion King (G). Then talk about the results of Scar's rebellion against the good King Mufasa. Discuss how rebellion against God can cause difficult things in our lives.
B. Play a game with your child, then talk about how playing the game requires following certain rules. Discuss how God's rules help us live good lives. Point out that God knows and wants what's best for us.

WISDOM THAT COMES FROM A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS SUPPORTS GOD'S PURPOSE. TRUE WISDOM WILL ALWAYS BRING CHRIST'S PEOPLE TO HIM AND TO BLESSINGS.

Bible Challenge: Week of October 21st - 27th, 2007

Operation Christmas Child

KidZone would like to invite you to team up with us this Christmas as we share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with needy children all around the world by using a simple shoe box. Operation Christmas Child is an easy missions project that every member and family can participate in by bringing a gift- filled shoe box to church between September 30th - November 11th.

We hope that you join us in making a difference in the life of a child around the world by praying for and packing gifts for those who will be receiving shoe boxes this Christmas from KidZone families via Operation Christmas Child.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Pray - Pray that God will touch the heart of every child who receives a shoe box gift and that He will bring many children and families to faith in Christ.

2. Pack A Gift- A shoe box filled with small toys and other gifts can open hurting hearts to God's love. Instructional brochures are available in the KidZone office.

3. Bring your shoebox gift with you to church and simply drop it off at the Operation Christmas Child table located in the Sanctuary Lobby or in the KidZone office during the weeks of September 30th and November 11th

(Please remember to include a $7 check made out to Samaritan's Purse to cover shipping and other project costs)

What books of the Bible did Solomon help write?

email your answers to jamesmitchell@fbcscottsdale.org

Driving Home the Point: Week of October 14th - 20th, 2007

This week in KidZone Ministries, we are learning to be devoted to God.

Bible Story: Solomon Turns Away from God

Key Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding, Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."

@Home with your Elemntary age child: Help your child choose proverbs he or she likes. Then suggest that your child write a proverb on constuction paper, decorate it, and hang it up. Talk about how Solomon was wise enough to write proverbs but not wise enough to follow his own advice.

@Home with your Preschooler: Take your child for a walk in a park. Pause often to admire God's gifts, from flowers to clouds. Talk about your love for God and all the wonderful things he has given us.

Thanks for your faithfulness in partnering with us in the Christian education of your child!

BIBLICAL WISDOM ISN'T PRIMARILY KNOWING FACTS ABOUT JESUS-- IT'S LIVING OUT A FRIENDSHIP WITH AND A RESPECT FOR CHRIST. WISDOM PRODUCES TRANSFORMATION, NOT JUST INFORMATION.

This Week's Update will be available on Monday

Please check back on Monday

Driving Home The Point: Week of Sept. 30 - October 6, 2007

This week in KidZone Ministries, we are learning that God gives us wisdom.

Bible Story: Solomon Asks for Wisdom

Key Verse: James 1:5 "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking."

@Home with your Elemntary age child: Play Trivial Pursuit Jr. (or your own version of a trivia game) with your family. Then talk about the difference between knowing facts and having wisdom. Ask someone to read JAMES 1:5 aloud.

JESUS DOESN'T EXPECT US TO HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS. ALL WE NEED TO BE WISE IS A WILLINGNESS TO CONSTANTLY TURN TO JESUS, ASKING HIM FOR DIRECTION-- JUST AS SOLOMON TURNED TO GOD.
